In the beginning of 2025, I discovered a throughline between many of the songs I was writing. Visual and emotionally evocative lyrics with characters that go through self-betrayal and renewal. Creatures of flight: birds, dragons, angels, phoenix.
So, rather than record a collection of folk-pop songs, I connected these throughlines into a story arc, an archetypal heroine's journey of sorts.
The artistic vision for this work is to be able to collaborate with aerial dancers and stitch these songs together to more effectively use music as a storytelling device.
I've got a working title: Flight & Fire
But, I need your help.
It is quite costly to create a project like this, so I'm hoping to fundraise in stages.
Phase One: Record demo tracks, create a pitch deck to bring to dance companies, producers, and seek artist grants.
Produce a minimalist performance gig: Collaborate with a single aerialist/dancer who will improv while I perform the songs.
Phase Two: Commission a producer and composers to create a cinematic album of the songs.
Phase Three: Commission/collaborate with an aerial dance company to fully choreograph the entire show.
Phase Four: All the monies in this phase would go toward hiring a publicist that can get the attention this project deserves.
